VAN WERT, Ohio (WANE) – Van Wert police have arrested a man in connection with a triple stabbing Sunday evening that apparently involved his wife, her boyfriend and another tenant in the building.

According to the Van Wert Police Department, officers were called to 106 South Wall Street around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a stabbing.

Sergeant J.B. Haggerty said officers arrived and found three victims.

All three were transported to Van Wert County Hospital. Two victims were treated and released and a third remained hospitalized as of Sunday night.

Haggerty did not have conditions for the victims on Sunday and a Monday news release on the incident did not include that information.

Haggerty said the first arriving officers immediately took a suspect, 25-year-old Michael, Keipper, into custody. He has been preliminary charged with two counts of felony assault and a felony count of aggravated burglary. Additional charges are likely pending the outcome of the investigation, according to Haggerty.

Police identified the three victims as 24-year-old Megan A. Gillette, Keipper’s wife; 32-year-old Raenita L. Hibbard, another tenant in the building; and 24-year-old Kody N. Detwiler, who is the alleged boyfriend of Gillette.
