Fire causes $250K worth of damage at Fishers home

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – Police said a fire broke out a home in Fishers near Geist Reservoir early Sunday morning, causing around $250,000 worth of damage.

According to the Fishers Fire Department, firefighters were called out to a home located at 612 Tamenend Court at 12:53 a.m. Crews arrived to find the three-car garage fully engulfed in flames.

Crews were able to stop the fire, but there was still some damage to one of the bedrooms upstairs. The home also sustained smoke and water damage on the first floor and in the basement.

Fire officials said the family was asleep at the time of the fire, but were awoken by working smoke detectors. Everyone got out of the home safely. Firefighters found a pet hiding in the home and rescued it.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries, but no other injuries were reported.

Officials said the fire began in the garage but they’re still unsure of the exact cause.
