DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A man faces several charges after police believe he was driving while under the influence of alcohol early Sunday, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.

Colton A. Ballentine, 20, of Butler was driving east on the 7100 block of County Road 30 at 5 a.m. His Dodge Ram crossed the center line, overcorrected and skidded sideways off the road. His truck went into a ditch and hit a utility pole which broke off at ground level. The truck flipped and came to a rest on its passenger side.

When police arrived, Ballentine had already left the scene to go to a hospital to have his injuries looked at.

Ballentine was preliminarily charged with three counts of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), minor consumption and he was also cited for operating left of center.
