FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  The Allen County Fair Ground filled with gems, fossils, minerals and jewelry dealers Saturday for a special show and sale. Fifteen vendors set up booths for this year’s Three Rivers Gem, Jewelry, Mineral, Fossil and Lapidary Show and Sale.

It featured various art demonstrations, Viking knit classes, exhibits, geode cracker, kids games and dinosaur models.

This is the 53rd year for the three day event.  The show is geared for children to experience and be exposed to fossils and gems. The show’s chair, Michele Yamanka, said the event is not only good for children, but good for the whole family. She said it’s a good reminder of what makes up the earth.

“Everything we have is either from a rock or a plant, and we need to know more about that,” Yamanka said.  “It makes a difference having a hands on experience with the real things.”

In the past, the event has drawn in thousands of people.
