BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Police in Bloomington have arrested a man suspected of wounding with a knife two people who came to the aid of a woman he was attacking.

Officers spotted the man on the city’s south side Thursday evening and arrested him on an unrelated arrest warrant.

Police Capt. Troy Thomas tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/1yIrzki ) that investigators believe Wednesday evening’s attack at Bloom Apartments was random and that the man didn’t know the victims.

An apartment resident told police she was checking her mailbox when a man threw her to the ground and choked her. A man and woman who rushed to help her suffered multiple knife wounds, but Thomas say the injuries aren’t life threatening.
