NHC Week 9 Recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – 6A no. 5 Carroll finished the program’s run in the NHC on a high note, beating DeKalb 24-6 to earn the conference title and end the regular season with a perfect record of 9-0.
Eric Lauer hauled in two touchdown passes as quarterback Aidan Smith threw for 186 yards. The Chargers will compete in the SAC next year along with Homestead.
Speaking of the Spartans, Homestead used a Jack Dugan field goal with no time on the clock to defeat New Haven 27-25. Landon Durnell rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns to lead Homestead, while Nishawn Jones rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Bulldogs.
In Decatur it was Bellmont upsetting 4A no. 9 East Noble 24-21 while Columbia City’s Ashten Barnes blocked a PAT in overtime as the Eagles edged Norwell 35-34.
