FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Redwood Living announced the opening of a new energy efficient community center Friday morning.

The new apartments offer 95 single-story homes, each with its own private attached garage. The homes are located at 5499 Maplecrest Rd.

“We think our smart design features, private attached garages and single-story living will be very welcomed in Fort Wayne. A garage keeps you out of the weather, and single-story construction means no noisy neighbors above or below your home, just peace and quiet,” Redwood CEO Steve Kimmelman said.

The apartments are 40 percent to 45 percent more energy efficient than homes built to standard building code.

“Our product is great for Ft. Wayne, and fills a need for upscale apartment homes for the community. We’re planning on investing $40 million in the area in the next five years,” company president David Conwill said.
