Women United is a community partner group with the United Way of Allen County. The focus of this group is to provide support for programs that contribute to early childhood education and kindergarten readiness. Research shows that early brain development, before age three, is critical to future learning and consequent actions. The Power of the Purse event seeks to raise awareness for the importance of early childhood education and to fund programs in Allen County which provide high quality experiences for children who are at risk of falling behind. One study cited by the United Way estimates that “the return on investment within the community is $7 for every $1 invested into quality early childhood education.”
The Power of the Purse is planned for November 11 at the IPFW International Ballroom from 5:30 to 8:30p.m. Activities will include live and silent auction items, including purses, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, beverages and more. Tickets are priced at $50 per person and are available in advance online at the United Way of Allen County website, and will also be available at the door on the day of the event.
