DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A 17-teen-year-old driver escaped serious injury after he lost control of the pickup truck he was driving when the driver’s side rear tire blew.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Brian P. Tew of Kendallville was driving north on a county road near Corunna just after 3:30 on Monday afternoon when the blowout occurred. Tew lost control of the truck and skidded off the road into a ditch where it spun 180 degrees and hit a utility pole.

Medics treated Tew on the scene for lacerations to the face before he was taken to Parkview Noble. He was discharged a short time later.
