VA celebrates mental illness awareness week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The VA of Northern Indiana is recognizing mental illness awareness week at its Fort Wayne and Marion Campuses.

As part of the event, guest speaker Marti MacGibbon was at the campus Thursday to talk with people.

MacGibbon is a bestselling author and inspirational speaker who overcame many obstacles in her life. She is a survivor of human trafficking, domestic violence and drug addiction.

According to the U.S. department of Veteran Affairs, nearly 60 million Americans experience a mental health condition every year.
