FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry kicked off a new wellness initiative Tuesday by weighing in publicly.
The program is called Fight for a Fitter Fort, or Operation F4, and it’s designed to help people lose a little weight. Organizers hope local residents collectively lose 500,000 pounds by the end of 2016. So far, about 600 people have signed up to participate.
Mayor Henry’s beginning weight is 203 pounds and his goal is to lose 15 pounds over the course of the program. He said he’s committed to increase his physical activity, eat healthier, and participate in next year’s Fort4Fitness event.
People interested in joining the program can sign up at a couple of upcoming events. “No Sweat” is a free event that offers tips on getting fit and eating better. It will take place Friday, October 10 from 11:30am-1:00pm at Parkview Field.
“Walk a Mile with the Mayor” will take place the following day at 2:30pm at Foster Park.
