Fire Department joins Fire Prevention Week campaign

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department will take part in National Fire Prevention Week starting on Sunday.

This year’s focus is on the importance of making sure homes have working smoke detectors. Firefighters will have several activities and initiatives throughout the week to prevent fires.  They’ll  be installing smoke detectors at some homes in the Fort Wayne area.

The Fire Department will work with the University of St. Francis to promote campus living safety and fire drills in dorms.

National Fire Prevention Week is from October 5 to 11.
