Victims in Kosciusko County crash identified

ETNA GREEN, Ind. (WANE) – The two people who died in a car crash in Kosciusko County over the weekend have been identified by the county coroner.

The driver who died was 57-year-old Jenann Patz, of Crown Point, Indiana. A passenger killed in the crash couldn’t be identified at the scene. The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office solicited the help of a Fort Wayne dentist and the Allen County Coroner to identify 55-year-old Sherri L. Harden, of Cedar Lake Indiana.

The preliminary cause of death for both is blunt force trauma due to a traumatic event.

Emergency crews were called to the fatal three-car crash around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived at the the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Road 19 in Kosciusko County, one of the trucks was in flames and one person had been thrown from the vehicle. Once crews put out the fire, they found a second person in the truck.

Investigators said a semi-tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 when it hit the back of a pickup truck stopped at the intersection. That collision caused the two vehicles to hit another pickup truck. The pickup truck in the middle caught on fire.
