1 dead, 2 airlifted after horse buggy and dump truck crash

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Parke County Sheriff’s Office was called to an crash around 7 p.m. Friday near Billie Creek Village on U.S. 36 involving an Amish horse buggy and a dump truck.

Officials at the scene reported the driver of the dump truck was blinded by the sun and hit the buggy. There were five passengers IMG_0325in the buggy when the accident happened.

Two of the passengers, including a young child, were airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time. A male was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Officials also reported two horses were killed in the accident.
