FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Three people safely escaped a house fire early Wednesday morning, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to 1326 Curdes Avenue just after 4 a.m.
The first arriving crews found smoke and flames coming from the front of the single story house.
Fire crews had everything under control in about 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
A underground water pipe burst a few houses from where firefighters were working, but it’s unclear if the use of the fire hydrant caused the break. Crews were still able to get water through trucks and onto the fire.
A bulk of fire damage to the home appeared in the garage area, but visible black marks lined the roof and portions of the home’s siding. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to help with ventilation and were working inside the home to extinguish fire within the walls and attic.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
