FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Starting October 1, firearms applications in Indiana will change. Indiana State Police announced a new electronic firearms application that will replace the paper application process.
Along with the new application process, permits now issued will be hard plastic rather than the paper permit currently used.
“The new electronic application is designed to streamline the application process for both the applicant and law enforcement officials” said Assistant Chief of Staff Major Mike White, Communication and Information Systems. “This system is designed to be user friendly and will make the process easier for all those involved.”
Anyone already holding a firearms permit will not be affected. However, when a permit expires they will need to use the electronic application. The electronic applications will also be used to request a duplicate firearms license or submit a change of address.
