Tranquill Making Transition Look Easy At Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WANE) – Due to injuries and suspensions Carroll high school graduate Drue Tranquill has found himself playing a major role at Notre Dame as a true freshman, and the Carroll graduate is flourishing with the Fighting Irish.
Starting safety and team captain Austin Collinsworth suffered a knee injury right before the season opener against Rice and hasn’t seen the field yet in 2014. While he it is possible he will return for the Irish’s next game – September 27 against Syracuse – the omission of Collinsworth along with the suspension of safety Eilar Hardy have thrust Tranquill into a prominent role.
Tranquill has responded, tallying nine total tackles in three games – including four in a 30-14 against Purdue this past Saturday in Indianapolis.
