Man tells police he killed man trying to rob him

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police in Indianapolis say a man told investigators he fatally shot a man who was trying to rob him in a bank parking lot.

The shooting happened about 6:15 a.m. Monday just west of the city’s downtown, across the street from a police district headquarters.

Police Sgt. Kendale Adams the shooter told police the victim had tried to rob him, but investigators were questioning whether that was the case. Adams said says the man who fired the shots was taken into custody and cooperating with investigators.

A still-running pickup truck ended up on the sidewalk of a shopping plaza across a parking lot from the bank branch. Investigators said a bullet hole was found in the truck’s windshield.
