28-year IMPD veteran dies of cancer

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Officer Julie Lapadat, 50, died on Friday. She was with the department for more than 28 years.

“Our prayers are with her family, friends, co-workers and the entire IMPD family as we grieve the loss of another one of our sisters,” IMPD Chief Rick Hite said on Saturday.

Chief Hite said funeral arrangements are still pending.
