9/5 Friday Night Highlight Zone

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Mother nature may have been the big winner in week three of the high school football season, as half of the area’s game were postponed by weather and will pick up again on Saturday.
The Highlight Zone “Game of the Week” barely got started, as East Noble led Homestead 7-0 in the first quarter before lightning forced the game to a stop. The Knights and Spartans will start up play tomorrow at 11 a.m. In other NHC action DeKalb led New Haven 6-0 in the second quarter before the game was postponed until 11 a.m. Saturday while Columbia City leads Bellmont 15-7 in the third quarter in a game that will pick up at 4 p.m. Saturday. Only one NHC game went final, as 6A no. 10 Carroll moved to 22-19 with a comeback win at Norwell.
In the SAC 5A no. 1 Snider moved to 3-0 with a 37-0 win over Northrop in a game that was called in the third quarter. 3A no. 13 Bishop Luers improved to 2-1 as the Knights bested South Side 43-0. Meanwhile, Bishop Dwenger leads North Side 22-12 in a game that was postponed in the third quarter and will pick up at 2 p.m. Saturday. 4A no. 6 Wayne leads 3A no. 8 19-14 in a game that will start again at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
In ACAC play Leo topped Adams Central 24-0 in a game that was called a final in the third quarter. Heritage bested Woodlan 27-7 in a contest that was also ended in the third quarter. Meanwhile, South Adams leads Bluffton 28-6 in a game that will pick up in the third quarter at Saturday at 10 a.m.
In NCC play Huntington North lead Richmond in the fourth quarter. That game will resume at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The NECC didn’t finish any games, with the conference’s top clash between Garrett and Churubusco suspended with the Railroaders leading 14-0 in the first quarter. Play will resume at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
