One critical after shooting in southeast Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A 22-year-old man is fluctuating between serious and critical condition after a shooting in the 2800 block of Drexel Avenue on Thursday.

Police were called to the scene at 4:18 p.m. According to Fort Wayne Police Department Public Information Officer Michael Joyner, the victim was walking on Drexel Avenue when someone shot at him from a black car. The victim did not live in the area, police said he was visiting.

A block of Drexel was taped off as crews investigated the scene and spoke to potential witnesses. At about 6 p.m., police opened the road back up and cleared the scene.

The perpetrating vehicle was last seen continuing west on Drexel Avenue after the shooting. Police said if anyone has information that could help they should call Crime Stoppers at (260)436-STOP or 496-7867.

This incident remains under investigating by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
