TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Tippecanoe County deputies estimated between 30 to 40 rounds were shot early Thursday morning on the county’s south side.

The sheriff’s office said the shots were not aimed at anyone but that alcohol was involved.

Shots could still be heard as deputies arrived at the home on Chickadee Court just after midnight. They then called Lafayette police and state troopers for backup.

Three people were arrested — 52-year-old Jeffrey Jones, 20-year-old Balam Avila-Herrera and 18-year-old Matthew Drerup. All three are from Lafayette and face a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Jones also faces a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Avila-Herrera and Drerup were cited and released for minor consumption. A fourth person, 18-year-old Christopher Jones, was also cited and released for minor consumption.
