CORUNNA, Ind. (WANE) – A woman was injured after the car she was driving collided with a semi-trailer early Tuesday morning.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Percilla Ruble, 67, was traveling west on U.S. 6 near Corunna when she drove left-of-center and into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash around 3:15 a.m. and found Ruble pinned inside her vehicle.

Investigators said the driver of the semi, 48-year-old Keith Sparkman, swerved to avoid Ruble and left the road, but her car ended up hitting the semi’s trailer. Both rear axles were detached from the trailer, according to police.

Corunna firefighters removed Ruble from her vehicle and she was air lifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Police said Ruble was admitted to the intensive care unit after fracturing several ribs and a broken wrist.

The crash is under investigation.
