Inmate dies after collapsing in Johnson County cell

WHITELAND, Ind. (WISH) – Police said an inmate died after collapsing in a jail in Johnson County Sunday evening.

According to police, Thomas Wyss, 59, was in a holding cell with another inmate when he collapsed. The other inmate hit the panic button for help and medics quickly arrived.

Wyss was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His cause of death will be determined by the Johnson County Coroner’s Office following an autopsy.
