Burned body found in Indianapolis backyard

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police confirm the body of a badly burned female found behind a home on the city’s west side is that of a 15 year old girl. The body was discovered Sunday afternoon.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a homeowner was walking his dog when he found the body in the 1100 block of Elder Avenue around 12:30 p.m.

Detectives said they believe the teen was killed in a different location and then dumped in the yard. An official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office following an autopsy on Tuesday. The victim’s identification will also be released by the coroner.
