FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Emergency responders were called out twice Saturday night for possible water rescues in the Saint Marys River near Headwaters West.
Police dispatchers said the first call came in around 7 p.m. The caller said a man had fallen out of his canoe, but when crews got to the scene, the man was back in his canoe.
Then, a second call came in around 9 p.m. from Fort Wayne Outfitters. That’s in the 1000 block of Cass Street by Headwaters West. This caller said a man hadn’t returned to Fort Wayne Outfitters and had been missing for about an hour.
Once again, water rescue crews responded. As they were searching the area, they received word that the man was safe at a friend’s house.
