SOUTH BEND, IN. (WANE) – As part of its ongoing internal investigation into academic impropriety, Notre Dame has announced it is holding a fifth football player out of games and practices. The school released a brief statement on Thursday afternoon that read:
As Notre Dame’s internal investigation relating to potential NCAA violations reaches its conclusion, a decision has been made to hold a fifth football player out from practice and competition. As with all cases of suspected academic dishonesty, the matter will now be subject to the University’s honor code process.
UPDATE: Matt Fortuna of ESPN is reporting that defensive back Eilar Hardy is the additional player that Notre Dame is withholding from team activities as the investigation nears it’s conclusion.
