MARION, Ind. (WANE)  Police in Marion have arrested a woman who claimed she had been stabbed by a black man, when an investigation revealed she likely stabbed herself.

Officers were called to Starkey Drive on July 29 on a report that Kylie Boswell had been stabbed by a man who ran into a nearby cornfield.

Investigators said it’s been determined that Boswell, 32, fabricated the story and stabbed herself.

During the investigation, police said they also discovered she had made up an earlier reporting of a domestic battery involving her and her husband on May 18. Additionally, detectives said she involved her 13-year-old daughter by having her lie about a battery that had never occurred. That reported incident led to the arrest of Bowell’s husband.

Boswell faces the following charges:

  1. False Informing – 2 counts
  2. Obstruction of Justice – 2 counts
  3. Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
  4. Neglect of a Dependent
