FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne firefighters, police, and rescue divers were called to the St. Marys River around 9 p.m. Tuesday after someone thought they heard a splash and saw ripples.
Police told NewsChannel 15 that a witness reported seeing a man in his underwear who was acting strangely at Headwaters Park.
The witness said he heard a splash, turned to towards the river, and saw ripples of water.
Crews searched the river for roughly two hours but never found anyone.
On Wednesday, Stacey Fleming with the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) said they never had confirmation that anyone was in that water to find.
Unless new information is brought to light, Fleming said, FWFD crews are not planning on resuming the search.
