FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The first round of the Hotel Fitness Championship will begin Thursday at Sycamore Hills Golf Club, but heavy rains forced course officials to close gates to the public Tuesday.
Western Golf Association tournament officials announced Sunday the course will not be open to the public, but players will be able to practice Tuesday.
Wednesday’s Mad Anthony’s Pro-Am will be played as scheduled.
“The course will be closed during Tuesday’s professional practice rounds, but the rest of the week’s events will resume as previously scheduled,” noted Duke Butler IV, tournament director, on behalf of the WGA. “If there are any further changes to the tournament program, we will announce … as soon as the decisions are made.”
Several inches of rain fell in northeast Indiana Thursday and Friday last week.
The Hotel Fitness Championship is the first of four Web.com Tour Finals events that determine the second set of 25 players who will earn player cards for the 2014-2015 PGA Tour season.
