DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Two men sustained minor injuries after the box truck they were in crashed on I-69 in DeKalb County Sunday around noon.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Jeffery Bair, 30, Indianapolis, was driving a 26-foot rental truck south on I-69 near U.S. 6 (exit 334) when he went off the road and rolled the vehicle.
Police said Bair told them he “blacked out,” or “had a seizure,” which caused him to go off the road. The truck rolled and spilled its cargo on the ground. Police said Bair was helping a friend move with the truck.
A sleeping passenger in the vehicle, Dustin Davis, 23, Indianapolis, was ejected from the truck.
Investigators said Bair and Davis had cuts and scrapes over their bodies. Passing motorists helped the two men until paramedics arrived. Both were transported to a Fort Wayne hospital for further treatment.
Police restricted travel lanes in the area until debris was removed from the area.
