INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A 20-year-old Indianapolis man has been arrested on charges alleging that he fondled a 4-year-old girl at a day-care center where he works.

Ali Al-Awadi was arrested Friday on a preliminary child molestation charge. He remained held Saturday at the Marion County Jail.

An Indianapolis police report says Al-Award is a staff member at the Children’s Choice Learning Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital Center, where the molestation allegedly occurred Friday.

Police spokesman Sgt. Kendale Adams tells The Indianapolis Star the girl was examined at the hospital after telling one of her parents about the incident.

Adams says the girl then “was able to tell police what happened.”

A hospital statement says the suspect has been suspended. He’s employed by the day-care center, which provides child-care services for hospital employees.
