NHC Week 1 Recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead set multiple school records, Norwell hung on for a big win, and New Haven, Carroll, and East Noble continued their winning ways in week one for NHC teams.
Homestead’s Logan Ormsby set school records with 421 yards passing and six touchdowns while receiver Ben Skowronek tallied a school-record 208 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-6 rout over Huntington North.
Norwell’s Piercen Harnish rushed for two touchdowns and the Knights defense held late to top Leo 14-13.
East Noble forced nine turnovers while Harold Wolfe threw four touchdown passes as the Knights took care of Northrop 38-13.
New Haven’s Nishawn Jones and Hayden Graham each had two rushing touchdowns as the reigning NHC champs topped Heritage 31-21.
Bellmont’s Sebastian Siefring hauled in a long touchdown pass as the Braves bested Adams Central in the first meeting between the two schools since 1978.
Braden Myer rushed 16 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns as Columbia City topped Warsaw 33-21 in coach Brett Fox’s debut.
The Tranquill-less Chargers had no problem in Goshen, beating the Redskins 40-7 while DeKalb won in new coach Pete Kempf’s debut by beating Angola 26-7 thanks, in part, to a 71-yard touchdown reception by Will Chrisman.
