20th Season of NewsChannel 15's Highlight Zone Underway

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Snider scored two touchdowns in the final three and a half minutes at Spuller Stadium to top Bishop Luers in “The Game Of The Week” as The Highlight Zone kicked off its 20th season.
The combination of Isaac Stiebling connected with David Turner for a 28-yard score at 3:28 to cut the Luers lead to 27-24. Snider’s defense forced a three-and-out on Luers’ next possession that helped the Panthers get good field position. Stiebling and Turner hooked up again for an 18-yard score with 2:01 left to give Snider the lead at 31-27.
In other SAC action Bishop Dwenger topped South Side 52-6, Concordia shocked reigning SAC champ North Side 31-21 at Chambers Field, Wayne rolled over former head coach Robert Brown and Anderson 53-7, while Northrop fell in Jason Doerffler’s coach debut at East Noble 38-13.
Homestead’s Logan Ormsby set school records with 421 yards passing and six touchdown tosses in a 49-6 win over Huntington North while Carroll rolled over Goshen 40-7. DeKalb snapped a 13-game losing streak in coach Pete Kempf’s debut as the Barons topped Angola 26-7.
New Haven topped Heritage 31-21 while Bellmont had no problem with Adams Central as the Braves won 45-13. Columbia City beat Warsaw 33-21 in coach Brett Fox’s debut, while Norwell hung on to beat Leo 14-13.
Churubusco opened NECC play with a 33-19 win at Lakeland behind a school-record 164 yards receiving by Chance Gallmeier, while Garrett returned to the conference with a 39-7 win over Prairie Heights. Woodlan opened the season with a 57-33 over Eastside.
