Shindigz Festival Opens With Washington Win


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Sixth-ranked Washington edged no. 10 Michigan State 1-0 on Thursday night at the Fort Wayne Sport Club to highlight day one of the three-day Shindigz National Soccer Festival.
It is the 15th year for the event, which previous had been hosted at Hefner Fields.
Washington’s Darwin Jones scored the game’s lone goal in the 28th minute.
Washington plays again in the event’s premier contest on Saturday night when the Huskies square off with Indiana at 6:15 p.m.
