GOTW Preview: Bishop Luers at Snider

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Spuller Stadium will be home to The Highlight Zone’s “Game of the Week” on Friday as Bishop Luers and Snider will square off to open the 2014 prep season.
Bishop Luers is looking to bounce back after an un-Luers-like 2013. The Knights went 0-9 in the regular season for the first time in program history, finishing with a 2-10 overall record. However, junior Noah Wezensky is settled in at the quarterback position and returns talented targets in receivers Austin Mack and Tyrell Johnson. Running back C.J. McCarter also returns for his senior season and is one of 19 starters back for the Knights.
Snider is coming off a 9-3 record in 2013 as head coach Kurt Tippmann enters his sixth season leading the program. Snider has won two in a row against the Knights, including a 34-12 victory last year. Offensively, the Panthers return quarterback Colton Painter, running back Neandre Billingsley, and a number of talented receivers. Defensively, they are looking to replace linebacker Rahju Blackmon and lineman Donavin O’Day.
Kick is set for 7 p.m. Friday. WANE-TV will be live with Tippmann at 6:20 p.m. to preview the game.
