COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WANE)- The Whitley County auditor has resigned from her job amid an investigation into claims that she misused government funds.

According to Whitley County Republican Chairman Matt Boyd, Jennifer McGuire resigned her position effective Tuesday.

A caucus will take place within 30 days to name her replacement. The person selected will finish McGuire’s term, which ends December 31.

According to Whitley County Commissioner Don Amber, a possible misappropriation of funds was discovered at the end of July.

Amber said McGuire was allegedly using a county credit card for personal expenses.

The State Board of Accounts and Indiana State Police are investigating.
