Woodlan Warriors May Be Led By Defense In 2014

WOODBURN, Ind. (WANE) – After posting an 8-4 record in 2013 the Woodlan football program knows it has some big shoes to fill this fall.
Those shoes belong to Woodlan’s all-time leading rusher Jaylin Bennett. The 6-foot-4 running back racked up 2,320 yards and 19 touchdowns last season and is now playing at Indiana State.
Shawn Kitzmiller and Mitchell VanBrocklin will play big roles in a running back by committee approach for Woodlan. Quarterback Rick Ehle looks to guide an offense bolstered by freshman receiver Treyvon McCarter, who has drawn rave reviews from fourth-year head coach Sherwood Haydock.
Defensively, the Warriors bring back talent and experience, and Haydock notes the defensive has been impressive during fall camp.
Woodlan opens the season at Eastside on Friday night.
