FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – Former Canterbury basketball standout Austin Hatch made his first appearance in a Michigan jersey Sunday night in Italy. The Wolverines are currently touring the country and playing several exhibitions against local teams. On Sunday, Hatch made a brief appearance in a 99-60 Michigan win over Italy’s Perugia Select Team. The team’s Twitter accounted sent out a picture of Hatch walking onto the court.
Hatch’s story is well documented. He survived two separate plane crashes that claimed the lives of his parents, his stepmother, a brother and a sister. Hatch committed to Michigan prior to the second crash and the school upheld his basketball scholarship.
The college freshman transferred to Los Angeles based Loyola High School for last year for his senior season.
