Witnesses save man being beat with canoe paddle

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)  Three men were arrested for aggravated battery and aggravated robbery in Franklin County on August 8. Witnesses called police when they saw the men beating another man, according to Indiana Conservation Officers.

According to a press release, Franklin County Dispatch received a call around 4 p.m. on August 8 concerning two men who were hitting the man. The witness told police the suspects were striking the man with a canoe paddle and holding his head underwater. Two officers from Brookville Police Department responded and found the victim in the water with injuries to his face and head. He was transported him to a hospital in Ohio.

Witnesses were able to identify the New Castle men as Kyle C. Eaton, 28, Daniel B. Weston Jr, 22 and Robert M. Vaughn, 26. Police charged the men as follows:

Eaton- Aggravated robbery, level 2 felony, aggravated battery, level 3 felony

Weston- Aggravated robbery, level 2 felony, aggravated battery, level 3 felony

Vaughn- Aggravated robbery, level 2 felony
