Coroner identifies Sunday morning crash victim

Crews investigate fatal morning accident

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) The man who died in a fatal crash Sunday morning has been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Arthur J. Hoffman, 52, of Fort Wayne died from blunt force trauma, according to coroner.

The New Haven Police Department responded around 5 a.m. on State Road 930, near the Interstate 469 ramp. When they arrived, they found a car in a ditch on the side of the road.

Police said a witness heard the crash. There was heavy fog at the time of the accident. However, police aren’t sure what caused Hoffman to drive off the road.

Police said Hoffman was not wearing a seat belt.

The ramp on I-469 was closed for almost two hours while crews worked the site.

Hoffman is the 16 traffic fatality for Allen County in 2014.
