Captains Quiet TinCaps Bats In Series Finale

FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – Lake County starter Mitch Brown silenced the Fort Wayne bats for six innings and the bullpen handled the rest as the TinCaps dropped their series finale with the Captains 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The TinCaps collected just six hits and were held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning. Fort Wayne loaded the bases with nobody out in the 8th inning, before the next three batters were retired in order.

Lake County meanwhile flexed its muscle for the second straight game, blasting six extra base hits, including RBI-doubles from Mike Papi and Nellie Rodriguez. Clint Frazier delivered the biggest blow of the afternoon, blasting a solo home run to left, his 12th of the season, giving the Captains a four-run lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

The TinCaps homestand continues on Monday night as they open a series with Great Lakes at Parkview Field. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
