Special delivery! Aloft Hotel in California using robot butlers

CUPERTINO, Calif. (CNN) — Room service has gone high-tech. The Aloft Hotel in Cupertino, Calif., is using robot butlers to make deliveries to guests as part of a test project.

Employees just place the items ordered inside the robot and then program in the room number. Using sonar waves, lasers, cameras and even Wi-Fi to call the lift, the mechanical butler navigates the hotel to the room. Guests receive a phone call once the butler has arrived.
