County commissioner structure could change after public vote

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A new referendum proposing the creation of a single county executive will be on the ballot in November.

The single county executive would replace the current three commissioners in Allen County. The number of county council members would expand from seven to nine.

Mark Becker, President and CEO of Great Fort Wayne, Inc., talked with NewsChannel 15 about the Advance Allen County campaign that supports the referendum.

Indiana lawmakers passed it earlier this year during the last session.

Voters in Allen County will have a chance to approve or disapprove of this referendum during the November elections.
