Four people facing charges after local sports bar raided

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police raided Sports & Spirits Friday morning after an investigation into citizen complaints, according to a release by FWFD.

The department’s Emergency Services Team, Vice and Narcotics Unit, and Gang and Violent Crime Unit along with the Indiana State Excise Police conducted a search warrant raid around 12:30 a.m. at 1723 East Wayne Street.

FWPD Sergeant Mark Brooks said an investigation began after receiving complaints after a series of violent incidents at and around the bar.

Brooks noted there have been more than 100 calls for service at the bar since 2013.

Police arrested four people including the bar’s owner and an employee.

Burke Baughman, the owner, was charged with felony maintaining a common nuisance.

April Bradford was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Marcy Parker and Jennifer Smith, a bartender, were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code was called to investigate possible code violations.
