Murray’s cheeses it up at Kroger

Murray’s Cheese was founded in 1940 by Murray Greenberg in Greenwich Village, New York.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  A nationally recognized cheese shop is opening in a Fort Wayne Kroger Marketplace. Murray’s Cheese opened at the DuPont Kroger location Thursday, across from the deli and bakery in the store. In honor of the opening, the company is holding a cheese tasting with a representative of Sartori Cheese.

Murray’s was named the ‘world’s best cheese shop’ by Murray’s Cheese and Kroger are partnering together and opening 67 new shops across the Unites States in 2014. Each shop will create up to eight new jobs at Kroger locations.

Kroger plans to add a Murray’s Cheese at its location at the Village at Coventry. While Kroger does not have an official opening date the current target is the last Thursday of October.

“Murray’s offers the rarest and finest quality cheeses from around the world, but they do so at prices that make the world’s best cheeses affordable to all Kroger customers,” Kroger Central Division President Jeff Burt said.

Murray’s will regularly host tastings with customers in store. Murray’s offers about 175 different cheeses from around the world. In addition to cheese, Murray’s features cured meats, crackers, and other specialty items.

Murray’s experts travel the world and find the best cheese in every country. Murray’s red-jacket associates go through training at the Murray’s headquarters in New York.

Murray’s Cheese partnered with Kroger in 2008, and they currently operate shops in more than 100 Kroger stores in 11 states.
