Busco Building On Nine Consecutive Winning Seasons

CHURUBUSCO, Ind. (WANE) – Coming off nine consecutive seasons – including a 8-3 campaign last fall – the expectations are high again for the Eagles in 2014.
Head coach Paul Sade is back for his second season and he returns a total of eight starters.
Sade says the team’s strength right now could be the defensive secondary along with the linebacking corp. Safety Dakoda Labenz and linebacker Lyle McParlan will be counted on heavily to lead the defense.
Offensively, the Eagles must replace the talented tandem of Kane Johnson and Cody Conwell in the backfield. Top receiver Logan Harris and quarterback Hayden Kilgore also graduated. Sade expects to see Drew Buffengarger step into the quarterback slot, while Adrian Springer and Sam Richards will get plenty of touches as Busco looks to spread the ball around more in 2014. The offensive line returns two starters with a number of young players expected to make an impact in the trenches.
Churubusco scrimmages Heritage on Friday and opens the regular season August 22 at Lakeland.
