Driver seriously injured after hitting tree head-on

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash after a driver slammed into a tree head-on early Monday morning.

Police responded to the crash in the 6000 block of Arapaho Trail around 2:40 a.m.

Investigators discovered the driver went off the road for several hundred feet, hitting a light post and snapping a twenty foot tall tree in half before slamming head-on into another tree.arapaho trail crash

Police said alcohol and speed were likely factors in the crash.

The man was hospitalized in serious condition.

The car sustained heavy front-end damage and one of the car’s tires was detached and sitting next to the tree. Tree bark was damaged where the car made impact.

No other vehicles were involved.

The crash is under investigation.
