MUNCIE, IN. (WANE) – It might just be the toughest job in the MAC this fall: replacing Keith Wenning. Arguably the best quarterback in Ball State history is hoping to make the Baltimore Ravens final roster, while the Cardinals coaching staff is searching for his replacement.
With three weeks remaining until BSU opens the season at home against Colgate, the quarterback competition is seemingly down to redshirt sophomore Ozzie Mann and redshirt freshman Jack Milas. Both have been getting reps with the number one offense, but Pete Lembo did say on Sunday that Mann is coming off a run of several good practices.
Mann appeared in six games in 2013, completing 2-of-9 passes for 29 yards in limited use behind Wenning. Milas, meanwhile, has never taken a snap in a college game after redshirting last season. He earned honorable mention All-State honors as a senior in high school at Rolling Meadows in Illinois.
