Motorcyclist suffers partially severed leg in crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after a single-vehicle crash on North Anthony Boulevard early Thursday morning.

Emergency personnel were called to the 3200 block of North Anthony Boulevard shortly after midnight Thursday.

Investigators said the man driving the bike suffered a severe head injury and partially severed leg. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police do not believe any other vehicles were involved.

Investigators said a witness told them the motorcycle turned left onto North Anthony from Crescent and the driver lost control. The motorcycle then hit a cement barrier and steel railing before crashing in the road.

Police said speed was a likely factor in the crash. It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Police have not said if the man was wearing a helmet.

The name of the driver has not been released.

The incident is under investigation.
